december daily - {day 6, nikolaus}

If you don't know what the Germans celebrate on the 6th of December you may hop over to Julie of eins plus mit stern...she explained it yesterday!

My story {translation of the journaling}:
When I was about 6 years old, my mom wanted to make our 'boot fillers' for St. Nicholas a special surprise. Instead of just stuffing it with little treats (chocolate, tangerines, some crayons or something like that) she made us both a Rute (birch) where she attached the treats. When we got up in the morning to see what St. Nicholas had left for us we were so shocked because of the birches that we started to cry. We weren't that naughty that we deserved Knecht Ruprecht's birch!
 Actually we were so shocked that we didn't realize that there were treats on them...

Wishing you all a wonderful evening!
 Ich wünsche Euch einen schönen Nikolaus-Abend!

P. S.: Due to all that new-to-me scrapbooking and the pre-Christmas madness im hopelessly behind reading & commenting on blogs and - even worse - answering your emails and comments. Please bear with me, I do my best to catch up sooner than later! {{hugs}}

  2. A wonderful story beautifully told. When I was little, if you were bad, Santa Claus left you coal.

  4. What a cute story. We celebrate St. Nick's here in Milwaukee too. I had never heard of it before I moved here. But it is a very German city! : )
