So, und nun zum zweiten Teil des Post-Titels: Muffin {im}possible. Ich habe vor einigen Monaten überall (naja, mehr als einmal) riesengroße Cupcakes entdeckt...z. B. bei Thimbleanna und mir war sofort klar: das ist der perfekte Kuchen für meine große Schwester, denn zu ihrem Geburtstag muss es ein ganz besonderer Kuchen sein (letztes Jahr gab es eine quietsch-grüne Marzipanwiese). Ich habe also lange gesucht und dann schließlich durch Zufall, die Form bei einem deutschen Anbieter gefunden {den Link poste ich nicht, denn ich war nicht so zufrieden mit dem Service}. Leider endete die Geschichte - vorerst - im Desaster...und es wurde ein absolut missglückter Maulwurfs-Kuchen. Der Kuchen fiel völlig aus der Form, so dass nur noch ein unförmiger Haufen rosa-gesprenkelter Schloko-Krümel übrig blieb ...der aber, zugegebenermaßen, sehr lecker geschmeckt hat. Inzwischen habe ich es nochmal probiert - und es hat geklappt! {ich musste dazu nur die Backzeit um eine halbe Stunde verlängern...lol}
Also, los geht's:
Inger Lise feiert ihren 100.

I'm seeing question marks in the some reader's faces...well, maybe in nearly all of yours...but I'll explain. Perhaps some of you remember me showing pictures of a sampler I began back in January and stopped talking about it in June...well, I didn't neglect it nor could it become another UFO...but I couldn't tell you about the progress because I intended to give it my sister as a birthday present. So I worked on my Happ-Bee Birthday quilt and had nearly every problem a quilter can have by trying to finish it before the 29th last month. {I don't mention the frantic search for the perfect border fabric and then, after abandon it because there wasn't any left, searching for the alternative fabric...which I nearly cut wrongly despite measuring twice...or changing my mind with the colour of the inner border and the seamripping marathon...well, I could have named the quilt 'mishaps, missteps, and misfortune' but that isn't quite appropriate for a birthday gift, is it?}. But in the end I sewed on the label one day before my deadline and I think my sister loved it.
So, the second part of my post title 'Muffin {im}possible'...after seeing the Giant Cupcakes everywhere in blogland, e. g. at Thimbleanna's blog back in April, I had to have it. It was just the perfect pan for N. as it's tradition that she recieves a special birthday cake every year... The upshot was, after trying hard to get the cupcake pan here in Germany and translate the receipe for metric measurements, the cake was a DISASTER...it 'resolved' into a bunch of pink speckled crumbs...which, btw, tasted delicously. But I didn't give up and last week I tried again change Muffin impossible to possible....well, it worked! And I have a hastily taken picture of it for you...soon after there wasn't much left to photograph ;o)
As I posted my Giveaway {you still have the opportunity to participate - just leave a comment on this post, be sure I can reach you if you're the winner!} my diet is officially aborted - it wasn't that effective as I'm so weak-willed ;o). So, here we go: Inger Lise celebrates her 100th post with a giveaway...and Candace at Wraggedypatches draws a quilty surprise, too, because of her 100th post...! Cheryl at Polka Dots & Rick Rack also celebrates her first year blogging with a giveaway...!

Take care and thanks for stopping by,
Julia

  1. Nice quilt, Julia. I like the way the inner border picks up the gold in the blocks. Isn't it weird how some projects seem to fight you the whole way?

    Your muffin cake is interesting; at first glance I thought the candles were knitting needles! Sounds difficult to convert a recipe..lots of math!
