I know, some of you may think I've already joined too many clubs/challenges and such...and I know I already commited to the OPAM challenge. I won't quit that one & I definitely keep this challenge in mind because it's a great motivation (I guess the finished things I showed on Tuesday count for this month, do they?). But I know me, I'm a better starter than finisher & the OPAM of Kris and Peg only count finishes. This is great if you make many small projects - unfortunately I'm often drawn to biiig projects...hmmm...maybe I want to compensate my body height...or the lack of it :o). Soo I was happy when Kelly announced the 2nd year of the Charming Girls' Club I knew it was a great opportunity to motivate my lazy self to meet my goals - even though it means that I am not finished with the project/quilt.
Ich weiß, man könnte denken, ich mache bei zu vielen Clubs/Challenges/wasauchimmer mit...und ich weiß, dass ich schon bei der OPAM Challenge mitmache - die werde ich auch nicht aus den Augen verlieren. Da aber hier nur die Endprodukte zählen, habe ich mich entschlossen, bei Kellys Charming Girls' Quilt Club mitzumahchen. Das sollte mir den Motivationsschub geben, meine Langzeitprojekte voranzubringen - sodass ich persönliche Erfolgserlebnisse verbuchen kann, auch wenn ich nicht jeden Monat ein ganzes Projekt fertig bekomme...
You can read about the rules here. Kelly had the great idea that we'll define bi-monthly goals, which suits me very well & they don't have to be only about quilting...hmmm...do I really want the world to know that I HAVE to clean my windows? ;o) What if I scare you away with just TMI?
The theme of July/August is Self-Care...
CGQC-Teilnehmer formulieren Ziele/Prioritäten für 2 Monate...nicht nur quiltige (obwohl, müsst Ihr wirklich wissen, dass ich meine Fenster dringend putzen muss??? Naja, vielleicht gibt's ja auch etwas interessantere nicht-quiltige Themen, mit denen ich Euch nicht verscheuche...)
Das Thema für Juli/August ist 'Self-Care' (habe gerade keine schöne Übersetzung zur Hand...naja, sagen wir, es geht darum, sich um sich selbst zu kümmern, dass es einem gut geht...oder ist Self-Care schon wieder Neudeutsch?)
In order to follow this task, I decided to blog only in English in future - I really loved to have my posts bilingual, but one of the reasons I've stopped blogging was the enormous amount of time every post took to write. Time I don't have or rather I don't want to spend on the computer. Even though my mother language isn't English it's easier for me to write in English because (despite all the mistakes I make)...when thinking 'quilt' it's English. Nope, I'll continue to post bilingual...it seems that I can't stand to disappoint people...;(
So, eigentlich wollte ich mich im Zuge dieser Aufgabe von einer Sprache in diesem Blog verabschieden, da ich einfach zu viel Zeit auf einen Blogeintrag verwende, den ich vom Englischen in ein möglichst wenig steifes Deutsch übersetze (es ist albern, aber trotz meiner Unzulänglichkeiten in der fremden Sprache fällt mir das Schreiben wesentlich leichter...). Naja - da ich aber inzwischen einige Stimmen vernommen habe, die das alles andere als gut finden, werde ich wohl weiter bilingual bleiben...ich enttäusche andere eben ungern...
Vielleicht kommt eine der Versionen mal etwas später - je nach Zeit-Ressourcen ;o).
Okay, here are my quilty goals for July and August...:
O. K., hier kommen sie, meine quiltigen Ziele für Juli und August...:
1. Vintage Memories BoM - finish the quilt top by July, 25th
I've already made Block 1-6 (10 12" blocks and the four 7" blocks)
BoMs 1-6 sind fertig, d. h. 10 12" Blöcke und die 4 7" Blöcke in der Mitte
...and cut all pieces for Block 7 (okay, I admit, I've already cut ALL pieces for the whole top...)
...alle Teile für Block 7 geschnitten (naja, um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich schon die Teile für das gesamte Top vorbereitet...ein bisschen Jean Pütz steckt wohl auch in mir ;o) )
The quilt is only for DH & me...so why a deadline? Well, I visited the Textile Art last month & a nice lady who has a longarm quilting business had a special 20 %-off-offer...and that offer expires on the 25th... (Living Quilts, Birgit Bradler). The beautiful BoM quilt will be about 77" x 97" and I want this quilt to lie on my couch before I get too old to enjoy it. And let's face it, my quilting skills don't meet my expectations for this quilt...I want it to be quilted with feathers ...many, beautiful feathers and not only wonky doodles...those who met me, know that I'm a huge fan of feathers...some might call it obsessed.
So, wish me luck that I'm able to meet that deadline...;o)
Der Quilt ist nur für Holger & mich...also, warum der knappe Termin? Naja, auf der Textile Art letzten Monat war eine talentierte Longarm-Quilterin,
Living Quilts, Birgit Bradler, mit einem Messe-Angebot von 20 %, das jedoch nur bis zum 25. Juli gültig ist...Und seien wir ehrlich, ich quilte noch laaaange nicht so schön, wie ich es mir für diesen Quilt vorstelle...der soll nämlich von viiiiiielen schönen Feder-Motiven geschmückt werden...ich würde daraus eher...öhm...undefinierbares gekritzel machen...und dann ist ja noch die Kleinigkeit der Größe dieses Schatzes (77" x 97") - d. h. bis ich mit dem Handquilten fertig wäre, könnten meine Enkel den Quilt benutzen...;o)
Also, drückt mir mal die Daumen, dass ich es bis zum 25. schaaffe....!
2. Piece another Block of the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery BoM 2009
I've made 5 or 6 of these lovely star blocks...will finish the top before winter begins..should be a realistic goal!....????
Ich habe 5 oder 6 (oi, mein Gedächtnis ist schon so löchrig wie Käseleinen) dieser Blöcke genäht (und dann weggestopft, wie man unschwer an den Knicken sehen kann)...mein Plan ist, das Top vor dem Winter fertig zu stellen...sollte doch zu machen sein, oder!....?????
3. Piece another Sweet Dresden block
I've made 13 1/2 of 30 Dresden plates...they all need to be appliquéd onto a background but I still haven't decided on a fabric...I thought of THIS one, but maybe it's too dotty? A solid yellow or blue? The cream background I bought for this quilt was too creamy {that's one of the disadvantages of buying online; but I found the perfect Jelly Roll to go with (Tula Pink 'Plume'...it was on sale and I just couldn't resist...bad Julia!) so it won't be wasted}.

Dresden Plates sind "schon" fertig...müssen aber alle noch auf einen Hintergrund appliziert werden...bin mir aber immer noch nicht sicher, auf welchen... Ich hab an
diesen hier gedacht, aber vielleicht sind das dann doch zuuuu viele Punkte? (Gibt es überhaupt zuu viele Punkte?) Oder lieber ein gelber oder blauer Uni-Stoff? Leider war ja der creme-farbene HG-Stoff zuuu cremefarben {einer der Nachteile davon, Stoff Online zu kaufen; aber ich habe schon die perfekte Jelly Roll gefunden, die zum Stoff passt, so dass der Kauf nicht umsonst war ;o)}.
4. Piece the center block of 'Summer Wind'
This is going to be a quilt for my mother...I thought 'Rural Jardin' would be perfect...and my mother loved it...so we both decided to invest in some 1/2 yds. (Rossville Quilts has an awesome customer service, I can really recommend this online quilt shop!). I sure will make that quilt for me, too...maybe with my precious 'Mill House Inn' fat quarters...;o).
'Summer Wind' wird ein Quilt für meine Mama... da passte 'Rural Jardin' von French General einfach perfekt...! Da ich mit meinen 'Stoffzuordnungen' nicht so ganz sicher bin, wollte ich erst mal den Center Block nähen & dann erst den Rest zuschneiden...
Ich finde diesen Quilt so schön, dass ich irgendwann auch einen für mich nähen werde... vielleicht mit 'Mill House Inn' Stoffen...;o).
5. If I'm really good, I'll add the first round of strips to all diamonds of the Whmsy Diamonds Table Topper (Fig Tree Club)
Started this one and then had to stop because my trusty Bernina had to have her service...
Wenn ich wirklich gut bin, dann schaffe ich es vielleicht noch, an alle Rauten die erste Runde Streifen zu nähen. Leider kam dieses kleine Projekt zum Stopp, da ich meine Nähmaschine zur wohlverdienten Wartung weggeben musste & dann sooo viel anderes dazwischen kam ;o).
6. Not to worry about all the other UFOs/WI(S)Ps
They're part of another set of goals! So I don't have to think of them now ;o).
Andere UFOs/WI(S)Ps werden ignoriert, bis sie an der Reihe sind ;o).
7. Make 3 Birthday gifts
...my friend and her two little ones had their birthday some time ago...need to make some little gifts...sigh...;o)
...für meine Freundin und ihre beiden Kleinen müssen noch Geburtstagsgeschenke her...
8. Secret project
Hey, it's a secret project, you don't expect me to spoil the surprise, do you? ;o)
Geheim-Projekt - Hey, das ist Geheim, und wäre es wohl nicht mehr, wenn ich es verriete!? ;o)
Well, these are my quilty goals...I'm not sure if I am able to meet all of them {because I don't know my work schedule for this summer yet}, but as they're my first CGC goals I thought I should aim high ;o).
Maybe I should add some blog-related goals? Hmmm....these are only second class goals...:
So, das waren meine quiltigen Ziele...keine Ahnung, ob ich alles schaffen werde, da ich noch nicht ganz abschätzen kann, wieviel Arbeit auf mich im Sommer zukommt...aber da es meine ersten CGC-Ziele sind, dachte ich, ich fange mal ambitioniert an ;o).
Noch ein paar Blog-spezifische Ziele:
A. New Blog Layout
Can't see the green/yellow anymore...want to have a fresh layout...maybe red&aqua or pink!? We'll see...
Ich kann das grün/gelb nicht mehr sehen....also muss ein neues, frisches Layout her...vielleicht rot & aqua (hellblau)...oder rosa? Naja, wir werden sehen...
B. Blog at least once a week or a fortnight*
Of course I'm tempted to blog more...but I have to be realistic ;o)...wasn't this month's theme all about self-care?
Mindestens einmal pro Woche oder alle 14 Tage bloggen sollte doch funktionieren, oder? Mal sehen, am Anfang wird's wohl noch etwas häufiger sein...;o)
